Genesis 25-26

"Abraham breathed his last and died in a ripe old age, an old man and satisfied with life..." (Gen 25:8).

I have heard the regret list grows very long as we approach our death bed. So many during those last days describe their shortcomings, mishaps, lack of prioritizing, etc, wishing for a little more time to undo what they've done or lamenting over their desire to do things over.

A weird question for you today, "If you knew that today you were going to die, what regrets would you have?" Do you resonate with those who wished they'd spent more time with family? Do you echo those who longed to have handled their finances better? Or do you see in yourself those who regret their emphasis on worldly things to the supreme detriment of their Christian walk? Where do you fall short today? What things are out of balance, things for which you are ashamed, especially if you knew it to be your last day on the planet?

If you are truly able to reflect on those things and are willing to try, there is good news. There is still time to change. For most of us, today is not our last. There is time to right the ship, resetting the proper course of our lives as we know they ought to be.

Decide today, while it is still today, to right the ship in a major area of your life. Don't try to implement too many things. One step at a time over a year leads you considerably far down a road you had, for too long, ignored.

Don't you want to be like Abraham? He wasn't perfect, but he died a happy death "satisfied with life." Will you?
