"The world has yet to see what God can do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him. I will try my utmost to be that man." -D.L. Moody
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us." (Romans 8:18)
Paul was a man who held an eternal perspective. He perceived the everyday experiences in light of the eternal purposes and promises of his Creator and King. We don't know about all Paul's warts, personal struggles, failures... but we do know that he was kingdom-minded. His faith controlled him. It controlled how he looked at every situation he faced.
A great example is found in his letter to the Philippians. Paul writes while in prison, but he's ecstatic because he has been able to share the gospel with the entire praetorian guard! He sees that his circumstances "have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel!"
Paul's wonderful perspectives challenges me greatly. How sold out am I? How much does comfort warp and hinder my potential for kingdom advancement? What is my unique calling which I am to fulfill to the uttermost of my capabilities? Am I considering the world and my sacrifices for the gospel as light and not worthy to be compared with the glory ahead? What about you?
I want to be like D. L. Moody. I want to be sold out for Christ. I know the great price that has already been paid. I have received an introduction into this grace in which I now stand and it wets my appetite for the eternal. One who is truly sold out for Christ must have a kingdom mentality, he must be able to see from the eternal perspective.
How are you looking at today? Ask God for His perspective and then walk in accordance with what you discover.
