"It is not me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer." Genesis 41:16
When tough times come, what happens to your faith? Do you throw it out the door or do you rely upon it more?
Joseph is an incredible biblical example for all of us. Unlike his father, Joseph never puts God to the test. He never questions God's hand. He is never shown doubting his faith or obedience to God. Through trial and tribulation, Joseph walks with his God. At all times, rather than seeking personal glory and fame, he attributes his understanding and position to God.
He is certainly one from whom grumbling would have been expected. Maybe that's what makes the Joseph narrative so special. It's what we don't hear that convicts us and challenges us, over and above that which we do hear.
How's life going for you? Under some tough situations seemingly out of your control? You may not find yourself in prison for a crime you didn't commit, or living in a land as a slave having done nothing to deserve it, but how are you handling that which God has placed on your plate?
Be encouraged by Joseph's story. Joseph sets an example for all of us to follow. Trust God, humble yourself to exalt Him in all situations, then just let Him lead. In the midst of the situation even Joseph could not understand what God was up to, but looking back in Genesis 50, his vision will be 20/20.
So often this is the case for us too. Walking by faith means that even in the most tragic or challenging circumstances we are called still to walk in the assurance of things hoped for and the convictions of things not seen, (Hebrews 11:1). If you are in Christ, walk through life with your head held high knowing the at the King of glory is on your side. Through it all, He is working His wonderful sovereign plan.
Trust and obey
For there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus
Than to trust and obey.
