A Valentine of Valentines!

This time I stop not reflect on God's word, but upon His gracious gift in my life, my wife. Valentine's Day is one of those opportunities to remind many of us how undeserved we are to have such wonderful partners in this journey called life. I am no different.

An excellent wife, who can find? For her worth is far above jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, And he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life...Her children rise up and bless her; Her husband {also,} and he praises her. Proverbs 31

Apart from a relationship with Jesus, there is nothing more I desire than to have a godly wife who fears the Lord and seeks His will... and it is exactly what I have. My wife loves the Lord and her value to me is more than everything the world may offer. My home is a place of rest where I know she is on my side, we are not in competition... I can trust that she seeks my best.

So many of the cares and necessities of home are entrusted to her. It is her business which she manages well. I trust her, without thinking about it, moment by moment with our children and their needs. She works long days to meet the demands of our home. She is always cleaning, cooking, and serving our family.

Her words are words of wisdom. I cherish her counsel. She teaches me and refines me. I need her companionship. I delight in her love. To me she is most beautiful and her touch is warm and inviting.

So forgive me when my actions fall short of making these things known. Though ironic and sad, it is all together easy to take for granted the most wonderful of blessings. Yet, it is most heinous to do so.

I am so thankful for such a woman as my wife, for such a bride as mine. Marriage was instituted to be that picture which teaches us about our union with Christ. I am thankful for such an example as my sweetheart. The love my wife has for me... in good times and bad... is that constant reminder of my God's gracious affections for me and His Church.
