It is the still of the evening. As the sun sets, he looks across the fields towards the arrival of his bride. She looks back across the open meadow. The music starts, their eyes meet (okay she was veiled... humor me). Their movements are viewed as if in slow motion as they glide gracefully towards one another. The man takes her into his arms, takes her as his wife and loves her.
Man, that's just how my wife and I ... OK, not! But it would have been cool. What a wonderful story of love, even at first sight. Don't tell me that God isn't a God of romance!
I love the details of this story, especially God's perfect "arrangement" of this marriage. Throughout the whole story God is praised for the way that he brings the right people together at just the right time.
With a little less fanfare, but still with all the same sovereignty I believe God does the same for us even today. He leads us through so many things to place us perfectly with the one that He has prepared for us.
If you are married, take a moment and think back on your own miraculous marriage story and praise God for His perfect plan. If you are not, enjoy the story of Isaac and Rebekah and praise God that He is still preparing you and your spouse for that day.
